The Fall Toward the River Flats

Gravity does half the work and causes half the trouble

Every waste line in the suburb runs down the same grade toward the Hunter River, fast on the steep middle streets and sluggish where the ground levels out near the flats. Sluggish water is where a blockage builds.

The older streets carry the older pipe
