What Counts as an Emergency Tonight?

Some faults will hold until a weekday booking. Others wreck the house by sunrise. Knowing the difference saves you a night rate on a job that could have waited.

Water pouring through the house

A burst pipe or a split braided hose tucked under a vanity can dump litres into the floor space fast. Turn the water off at the meter first, then ring.

Sewage coming up inside

A blocked sewer surging back through a floor waste or toilet is a health problem, not a scheduling one. That is the blocked sewer team's work, and it does not wait for morning.

The smell of gas

Open windows, get everyone outside, leave the light switches alone, and call the gas network's emergency line first. Once the site is safe, the gas leak repair side is ours.

No hot water with a tank leaking or tripping

Cold showers for a full house can't wait, and winter nights here get cold. The hot water side of the run covers repairs, replacements and a temporary tank while a new system is sorted.

Your First Moves While Help Is Coming

Shut the main

The stop tap at the water meter stops the flow. If the meter tap is seized, Hunter Water's tap at the boundary is the next option.

Empty the lines

Run a garden tap or the laundry tub tap so the water left in the pipes drains outdoors, not across the carpet.

Isolate wet circuits

Water near a power point means flicking that circuit off at the switchboard. Not confident doing it? Keep away and tell us on the phone.

Save what you can

Buckets and old towels under the drip slow the damage a lot. Shift furniture and rugs well clear of the water.

We handle the rest on arrival: isolating the failed section, replacing the split pipe or hose, pressure testing the repair, and cleaning up before we go.

Why Do These Pipes Let Go at Night?

The housing stock does the explaining

Brick-veneer and fibro homes in Tenambit built before 1980 still have original metal supply pipe and clay drains in the ground, and pipe of that age splits and weeps as it wears out. Roots from established gardens work into the old earthenware joints too, so a sluggish toilet can turn into an overflow overnight.

The flexi hoses are the quiet risk

Braided hoses under sinks and vanities give way with no sign at all that they were failing, and every established kitchen and bathroom has at least one. Swapping them is affordable maintenance while they are still holding; after they let go it is an emergency booking.

Storms load the low end

Heavy rain runs down from the suburb's high western side and piles into the stormwater pits near the river flats, so a surcharge shows up at the eastern edge first. Those low yards take the runoff from every street above them.

How an After-Hours Booking Runs

  1. 01

    Ring or send the form

Call (02) 4915 2998 or use the form to explain the fault. We ask enough to bring the right equipment the first time.

  2. 02

    A fixed price first

A plumber inspects the job and names a fixed figure up front. Nothing gets started until you give the go-ahead.

  3. 03

For a burst, the failed section comes out, new pipe goes in, and the line is pressure tested before the water returns.

  4. 04

    Covered for a year

Every job carries our 365-day warranty on all work. If something we did isn't right, ring the same number.

What Moves the Figure After Dark?

The hour is the big one. A 2am or Sunday visit costs more than a weekday one, and you agree that rate on the phone before anybody drives over.

  • Access A split pipe in the subfloor of an elevated house means crawling in with torches, which takes longer than a tap in the laundry.
  • What has failed A split flexi hose is a quick swap. A burst under a concrete path means cutting, digging and reinstatement.
  • Parts on the van Common fittings are stocked. A specialised valve may need sourcing, and you hear that before we order it.

We provide up-front, honest quotes that will always match the final price, should you decide to go ahead.

When We're Not the Right Call

A water main bursting in the street is a Hunter Water fault, so ring their faults line for that one; our side starts at your meter. Wet power points and tripped circuits need a licensed electrician before anyone touches them. If floodwater is still climbing through the yard, call the SES for sandbags first, and ring us once it drops.

Straight Answers on After-Hours Calls

Do you really come out at 2am in Tenambit?

Yes. We are Available 24/7, and you know the night price before we set off. You hear the night rate on the phone, so nothing extra turns up on the invoice.

What should I do about a burst pipe before you arrive?

Turn the water off at the meter, open the lowest tap to drain the pipes, and get rugs and furniture clear. The oldest houses here still run their original galvanised supply lines, and those are the ones that tend to split.

Is a blocked sewer at night an emergency?

If sewage is coming up inside the house, yes. If it is one slow drain and everything else runs fine, it can wait for a daytime booking on the blocked sewer work. The phone call sorts which one it is.

Will an after-hours job cost more in Tenambit?

Night and weekend work is priced higher, and you hear that figure before anyone heads out. It costs nothing to get us out to your door (excluding after-hours). The exclusion is explained when you ring.
